Wiring harness manufacturer KES deploys the software solution from DiIT

Krailling, March 15, 2019 – Wiring harness manufacturer KES has parted company with its previous manufacturing execution system and is now deploying the 4Wire CAO solution from DiIT, a leading provider of integrated software systems for wiring harness production.

KES in Vratimov, Czech Republic, has implemented the 4Wire CAO (Cutting and Assembly Optimization) solution in its factory and is using it to control the cutting area for the production of wiring harnesses for headlights and lighting installations. KES is also using the 4Wire CAO software to produce wiring harnesses for the electrical industry.

Previously KES used its own MES (Manufacturing Execution System) for production but this did not have an optimization function nor any machine interfaces. The DiIT solution, on the other hand, is considered to be the leading MES for the cutting area and pre-assembly of wiring harnesses. It has access to continuously updated machine interfaces and captures and analyses machine data, which is then used as a basis on which to optimize production. 4Wire CAO is also scalable and easy to install. The modular design of the system gives it a flexibility that can be adapted for use by small and medium-sized enterprises like KES.

The software solution was installed in mid-2018 after a three-month pilot phase on several machines. Further machines were then connected in the first quarter of 2019. The Eastern Czech company has about 40 machines in its machine pool. KES manufactures products for large automotive suppliers and the electrical industry.
