LEONI deploys MES solution from DiIT worldwide

Krailling, July 04, 2017 – DiIT AG, the leading software vendor of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for wiring harness production has acquired LEONI as a new customer. The company will deploy DiIT’s CAO solution in its worldwide production of wiring harnesses.

Automotive supplier LEONI will install the latest version 12 of DiIT’s CAO (Cutting and Assembly Optimization) solution for the cutting room and manual pre-assembly production areas with electronic Kanban integrated into the CAO used for both areas.

After a successful pilot project at the Serbia site, the company is now launching the new system worldwide. This makes CAO as an integrated solution at current state-of-the-art the new standard system for optimizing the aforementioned production areas. Relevant systems, developed to date in house, are now being replaced.

Alongside the pure software delivery both companies have agreed a more far-reaching cooperation agreement. As part of this, DiIT will support LEONI during the replacement of the in-house developed software solution. Here LEONI will gradually introduce CAO V12 in all 35 cutting rooms of the on-board wiring system division. The second phase of the implementation will see its expansion to pre-assembly. Future new LEONI plants will install CAO from the outset.

Based in Nuremberg, Germany, LEONI is an international systems and development supplier for wiring, cable and wiring harnesses with its prime focus on the automotive industry. The company employs around 75,000 people at 82 production sites in 31 countries and in 2015 it generated revenues of EUR 4.5 billion.

“With LEONI we have acquired another important global player as a new customer”, says Bernd Jost, Managing Director at DiIT AG. “This is a recognition of the high quality standards of our solution and confirms our leading global role as an independent MES software vendor in the wiring harness industry.”

“CAO is state-of-the-art technology and enables us, on a worldwide basis, to control and optimize production in this field with a standardized, integrated solution,” explains Ralf Maus, Managing Director, Executive Vice President & COO at LEONI Bordnetz-Systeme GmbH in Kitzingen.
