NZP uses DiIT Detailed Planning complementary to SAP

21.04.2009

Planning done without information of the current situation and states in production or with information that is delayed and therefore out-of-date, is not suitable for efficient production according to order deadlines. Therefore NZP, part of the NORD group - one of the world’s leading manufacturers of drive technology - relies on DiIT Detailed Planning for manufacturing control, supplementary to SAP.

Many common planning systems do not or only insufficiently account for the actual states in production as information on these states are provided only manually on human initiative. Another major drawback is that calculations are based on fixed and predefined transit times as they not normally occur in production.

Unlike this common approach, DiIT Detailed Planning is based on the online information of the DiIT Manufacturing Execution System DiMES, in which all production relevant information is instantly available for planning. Transit times, a material cause for error in target date oriented production control, are not fixed but in the DiIT system considered to be dynamic and dependent on the work buffer of the individual machines.

As a dynamic system, DiIT Detailed Planning can be started whenever it its necessary and as frequently as required. The calculation time is only a couple of seconds. Therefore, it is possible to react to changes in the production situation as they occur.

DiIT Detailed Planning has two parts, which are capacity planning and calculation of order priorities. Based on the orders at hand, the target dates of these orders and the real-time information from production, the anticipated work load of the individual machines is established by capacity planning. At this point, planning personnel can interfere manually and make changes to the planning result. On release of the final planning and dependent on order dates and transit times, automatically priorities for the planned orders will be calculated by the system. The calculated order priorities are the basis of production control in which critical orders are speeded up in contrast to less critical orders.

With DiIT Detailed Planning, NZP aims to reduce and simplify its planning efforts and to propel the meeting of production deadlines in its plants.
