Integration of Schleuniger Crimp Center in CAO

19.12.2008

CAO is the MES system for cutting areas that integrates automatic crimping machines independent of manufacturer in an overall system that controls production according to laid down optimization criteria. In doing so, CAO transfers cutting orders and cut and crimp data directly into the controllers of connected machines, supervises and enforces material changeover and quality requirement procedures, and is responsible for the acquisition of objective production and machine data that are the data basis for the calculation of significant key performance indicators.

At the heart of CAO on the machine side, there is the standardized machine interface by which cut-and-crimp machines of different makes can be connected. So far, mainly Komax and Yazaki machines operated with additional CAO control. Now, for Sumitomo Bordnetze, the Schleuniger CrimpCenters have also been integrated into CAO using the Schleuniger EASYNET Interface.

The online machine connection to CAO relieves the operator of important decisions that are now taken by the system with the effect that errors are drastically reduced and quality is immensely improved. Owing to the optimized sequence of order production, that takes account of both machine dependent set up cost and delivery dates, there are no losses of time and production is more efficient and on schedule.

The integration of Schleuniger CrimpCenters has won DiIT another important partner and has substantially extended the ability of CAO to integrate cut-and-crimp machines of different manufacturers.
