4Wire RPM from DiIT captures machine data without any installation costs

Krailling, September 20, 2017 – DiIT measures machine capacity utilization in wiring harness production with 4Wire RPM. The new solution operates with Bluetooth and is Cloud-based making it very easy and fast to install.

Many industrial manufacturers can only make rough estimates of the actual capacity utilization of their machines. If data capture were more precise then data would generally not be further processed automatically. On this basis, however, only limited process optimization is possible. DiIT AG, the leading supplier of software for the production of wire harnesses and wiring systems has now launched a solution for the measurement and further processing of machine capacity utilization.

4Wire RPM enables manufacturers to easily measure the capacity utilization of their machines in real time and use this basis to make decisions on optimizations, such as whether changes in processes are required, whether another machine is better suited to the respective process steps or whether it makes sense to invest in the DiIT software.

4Wire RPM includes three components:

• Tokens consisting of sensors are fitted to the machine and send measurement data via Bluetooth to a Gateway.
• The Gateway collects the data from up to 100 Tokens within an orbit of up to 60 meters and forwards them to the Cloud.
• Cloud software then analyses and prepares the data and then makes them available for viewing on a computer, tablet or a smartphone on a clear, graphics-based display.

4Wire RPM is very easy to install. As the data are collected via Bluetooth, no cabling is required unlike in traditional solutions. The Tokens must only be fitted to the moving parts of the machine. The user does not need any specific resources for the Cloud solution, nor do any programs need to be installed as data access is browser-based.

4Wire RPM also meets high safety standards. Communications are secured via the OAuth 2.0 and https protocols and the Gateway can only connect with the 4Wire RPM cloud. The Tokens and Gateways can only communicate in one direction which means the devices cannot be manipulated externally.

“4Wire RPM now enables smaller and medium-sized manufacturers of wire harnesses and wiring systems to capture and evaluate their machine data in real time” explains Bernd Jost, Managing Director of DiIT AG. “For these companies the systems previously available were generally expensive to install and operate. They now have access to a very simple solution which means they no longer have to rely on gut feeling when it comes to optimizing their production processes.”
